KCAO's Food Bank Service Center Gets Major Funding to Address Local Needs

On June 18th, KCAO received a generous funding opportunity of $612,426 from the County Board of Supervisors to support the KCAO Food Bank Service Center (FBSC) project. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to combat food insecurity and homelessness in Kings County.

This opportunity brings KCAO one step closer to finishing the FBSC project aimed at tackling food insecurity and homelessness. The funding is allocated for Phase 1 of the FBSC, which aims to establish a low-barrier shelter alongside a navigation center. This program aims to provide housing navigation services and additional support to enhance aid for individuals facing food insecurity and homelessness in Kings County.

Funding Use

  • Architectural services for facility design

  • Securing permits and licenses

  • Building construction (materials, labor, contractor fees)

  • Development of infrastructure (landscaping, parking, utilities)

We are excited to be closer to phase 1 of the KCAO Food Bank and Service Center. Thank you to the Kings County Board of Supervisors for your ongoing support of the KCAO mission and addressing homelessness in Kings County.
