KCAO News Briefs: Week of July 23-29

Welcome to Your Weekly KCAO Update 📣

CalWORKs Home Visitation Program Recap

In this week's update, we're taking a closer look at the CalWORKs Home Visitation Program for the 2022-2023 program year. This initiative plays a vital role in our community, supporting the health and well-being of pregnant and parenting individuals through the Parents As Teachers (PAT) curriculum.

PAT is an evidence-based curriculum that allows us to individualize services while maintaining a consistent, positive environment where parents can become their child's first and most influential teacher.

Reflecting on the 2022-23 program year, our team conducted over 1088 home visits for 63 families, accumulated 475 hours of professional growth, hosted 21 group connections, and organized one parent café. We also ran four “Your Journey” workshops to support families in learning about resiliency. The positive impact is clear: two parents received their CNA license, five enrolled in a community college, and two enrolled in a university.

We're excited to take on another program year and can't wait to share the progress that our home visitors will achieve with families in our community.
