KCAO News Briefs: Week of July 16-22

Welcome to Your Weekly KCAO Update 📣

Extreme Heat Preparedness Information

In this week's update, we're focused on providing essential information for coping with the current heat wave. Heat is more than a discomfort, it's a lethal weather event that can impact everyone, regardless of age or health condition. We delve into the specifics of who is most at risk, such as the elderly, young children, those with chronic health conditions, pregnant women, and those in urban or non air conditioned environments.

Recognizing the signs of heat illness is crucial, and we discuss these, which include symptoms like heavy sweating, muscle cramps, weakness, headaches, and nausea. We strongly advocate the development of a proactive heat response plan. This should involve assisting friends, family, and vulnerable community members, as well as identifying your local cooling centers.

We provide a list of available cooling centers in Kings County. For additional information, visit HeatReadyCA.com.

Please share this vital information with your network to help keep our community safe during this heat wave. We're all in this together.
