KCAO News Briefs: July 30 to August 05

In this week's KCAO update, we share exciting news about several generous grants awarded to our organization. We have received $100,000 from the Reach and Resiliency Grant to bolster our Food Bank, particularly in expanding outreach and food distribution to the unincorporated area of Home Garden and the Santa Rosa Rancheria Reservation tribal lands. This grant will also support nutrition education and a referral system for county and nonprofit services.

We've also been awarded $50,000 by Cal Viva to assist our utilities and water assistance programs, as well as fund the Summer Food Program and Backpack Program. Part of this fund will be dedicated to creating a 'comfort room' at the Barbara Saville Shelter, a safe, controlled space designed for trauma-informed care.

Community Health System has bestowed us with a $5,000 grant to boost childhood nutrition via the Summer Food Program for youth aged 0 to 18 years.

Lastly, we are honored to be selected for #TheStarbucksFoundation #NeighborhoodGrants, receiving $2,000 to support our Food Bank in its mission to alleviate hunger, optimize food distribution, and increase access to healthy food in underserved communities.
