KCAO News Briefs: September 17 to 23

This September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating food insecurity. This week, KCAO would like to bring awareness to a few KCAO locations where people can access emergency food.

One location is KCAO's Resource and Referral center, at 1002 N 11th Ave in Hanford. The center offers non-perishable items like canned vegetables and bags of rice or beans. It's open to the public from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.

Another location available is the Kettleman City Family Resource Center, located at 75 5th St in Kettleman City. This center also provides non-perishable foods like canned vegetables and bags of rice or beans. It's open to everyone and runs on the same schedule, 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.

In addition to the Resource and Referral Center in Hanford and the Kettleman City Family Resource Center, we'd also like to bring attention to the Home Garden Opportunity Center. Located at One One Five Nine Three South Tenth Avenue in Hanford, CA, this Community Garden invites the public to grow their own food. To participate, you can volunteer your time. They are currently in search of volunteers who can be consistently available.

These three locations are all part of our broader effort to tackle food insecurity, particularly important during Hunger Action Month.
