Ready for Tax Season

KCAO is well-prepared for the upcoming tax season! Our team recently concluded a four-day volunteer training session for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. All volunteer tax return preparers have successfully completed their certification and quality review process. 

We express our deep gratitude to the following volunteers who participated in the four-day training and achieved VITA/TCE certification: 

  • KCAO community volunteers 

  • Sierra Pacific High School Business Academy 

  • Hanford West High School  

  • Hanford High School 

  • Avenal High School

Need assistance filling out your Taxes?  

You can book an appointment in Hanford, Corcoran, or Avenal for tax assistance at KCAO. 

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $60,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance preparing their tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. 

VITA will not be able to assist with the following returns this year: 

  • No Self-Employment income (Forms, 1099-K, cash, digital assets, or other property or services) 

  • No cash/check/digital assets, or other property or services for any work performed not reported on Forms W-2 or 1099-DIV 

  • No income (or loss) from rental property or Sch K-1, and royalties 

Appointments will open on January 29, 2024.
