CalFresh Nutrition Classes

CalFresh Healthy Living, federally recognized as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education, is the largest nutrition education initiative in the U.S. Over one-third of California residents qualify for this program, which aims to enhance the health of eligible Californians through education and community-driven health improvements.

Funded by the California Department of Public Health, the program promotes healthier lifestyles among low-income populations in Kings County through:

  • Physical activity education

  • Nutrition education

  • Community outreach events

  • Collaborative partnerships

The program also strives to create policies and environments that support fruit and vegetable consumption, and daily physical activity for the target population.

To achieve its goals, the program conducts education in creative and culturally appropriate methods at:

  • Schools

  • Worksites

  • Community centers

If you would like to receive more information about the program or would like to schedule an education class at your site or for your community event, please call the CalFresh program at (559) 772-4391.
