What is Cal-Learn?
Cal-Learn is designed to encourage pregnant and parenting teens to graduate from high school or its equivalent, become independent, and form healthy families.
Purpose and Goals
The goal of this program is to promote and encourage self sufficiency and the completion of high school or the equivalent.
Requirements
Pregnant or parenting teenagers who are 19 years of age or younger.
Receiving CalWORKs.
Have not graduated from high school or its equivalent.
Positive Youth Development
Youth who participate in Cal Learn will follow the Positive Youth Development (PYD) model of intervention. PYD addresses the social, health, educational, and economic consequences of adolescent pregnancy by providing comprehensive case management services to pregnant and parenting teens and their children.
